1986 SeasonWith the Collective now becoming hardened to the rigours of the South London cricketing life, the usual early-season humiliation by the Surrey Antilles was followed by a good spell of 5 generally comfortable wins in 7 games, punctuated by a narrow defeat to West Byfleet and a thrashing from Wanham. Sadly the rest of the season was a tale of almost unrelieved losses, with only Southfleet providing the thrill of victory in a low-scoring match. RBCC's second tour, taking in the delights of Norfolk, was chastening for most, though not for BAL who finished his season with a record nine wickets on tour, including a marathon of 20-4-63-6 in the game against Shropham. The 1986 averages are unlikely to provide many of the participants with much pleasure, though PoC and BAL have some impressive bowling stats, and Bill Gill managed, slightly freakishly, to be a real all-rounder with his batting average higher than his bowling average.
