1 Apologies for Absence

Despite the informality of the occasion, these had been received from Phil Solomon, but not from Giles, who had suffered a Y2K bug in his brain and got confused about dates.

2  Finance

The Treasurer reported that we have £88, and we need some subs.

3  Fixtures List

CL distributed an early draft of this, printed with reckless disregard for expense on the reverse side of the assembly instructions for an IKEA wardrobe.  Here is the latest version.

One more fixture is needed for the Oxford tour; one extra fixture before the Suffolk tour would be a Good Thing - CL was instructed to see whether a match against Lesser could be fitted in at that time.

4  Gear

According to CL, we need some new wicketkeeping gloves, as the current pair is inadequate.  MG offered to sort out the bats.  For some reason a firm decision was made that John Anzani has no authority over gear [sorry John, I can't recall why at the moment].  No official view was taken concerning John's authority in any other sphere.

MG will buy whatever gear is needed.

5  Tours

Just in case you haven't already heard, the main tour this year will be based in the infamous town of Grantham, Lincs.

A rambling discussion of tours and related matters led, by a chain of reasoning too tenuous for the Secretary to record, to prolonged reminiscences about the now-legendary Tit Off incident.  During a rare excursion into rationality, the meeting noted that Grantham, situated as it is in the flattest county in Britain, is not strictly speaking part of the Peak District.  Giles was asked to give details of the arrangements to the Collective.

The organisation of the Suffolk minitour is more-or-less finalised.  The accommodation will be the same as last year, albeit with a slight price increase - if the weather is the same as last year too, maybe we should look into hiring a boat for transport to the matches.

The Oxford tour is still work in progress.  Again, we will go back to last year's hotel, but a Saturday fixture still needs to be found.  CL asked whether the Blackthorn match could be retained as a normal fixture if the minitour had to be rescheduled, and everyone agreed that it could.

The secretary was mandated to get some information out of the minitour organisers to be distributed with these minutes.  Please take a moment to poke around inside the envelope to check whether this has actually happened yet.

6  Nets

Nets were discussed, though by this stage the regular arrival of pints of very nice beer had begun to affect the concentration span of the meeting.  The outcome was that MW will try to book one net at Lord's in the first week of May, ideally on the 5th with a 7-7.30 kick-off.

7  AOB

This proved to be more Other than Business.  During the course of a wide-ranging discussion, DM had a moan about email and stamps.  An actual policy decision was made that all information should be circulated by post.  Stuff will still appear by email and on the web site, but this should not be considered as official.  The issue of Trina White was raised by someone for unspecified reasons; finally, a suggestion was made that the Rizla/Redbat logo should be modified to read Tit Off.   This was much funnier at the time than you might imagine.

At this stage the licensing laws brought the meeting to an end, and those present headed out into the night to face the new season with a straight bat and a slightly unsteady gait.
