1.  Matters arising from previous minutes

None

2.  Fixtures & Pitches for 1994

Chris bravely ploughed through the fixtures as they stand, hounded by incessant questioning and abuse (but mostly abuse) from virtually everyone present (all right, Phil and me).

Attempts were being made by various people around the country to rescue the MOB game and to make it the glamorous occasion it deserves to be (Steve and Chris trying to secure a pitch, and Phil 'vibe up' Jones trying to finalise a crack touring eleven).

Chris agreed (again) to pursue a fixture with Shropham.

3.  Nets

Pitifully attended so far.  Monday, being a crap night, was cited as one reason for this, although rank apathy seems a more likely candidate to me.  Ziggy undertook to and has booked nets for Thursday evenings, 7-9.  Get down there, you lazy bastards.

4.  Subscriptions

A list of the saints who have been arsed to pay their subs was read out to fanfares and angels singing hallelujas.  The Committee will harass with extreme prejudice the deep-pocketed sinners.

5.  Gear

We've purchased 2 pairs of RH batting gloves, 1 pair of WK gloves (purple), a cricket bag (guaranteed to last only three months) and a pair of bails.  Everything else festers in Chris's garden shed.

6.  Tour

To be based in Shrewsbury.  JA has booked matches for the Saturday and Sunday, with Monday to follow.  We will take up residence at the Lion & Pheasant hotel costing £23.50 per night per person.

Phil volunteered to stump up the deposit (for the time being).

Those wishing to tour should lodge with Bruce a £10 deposit for each grown-up tourist by the end of the first week of May (7th).

The Committee will assume a full load of 16+1 playing tourists. If the response makes this assumption untenable the position will be reviewed.

7.  Vice Captaincy

No vote was held, the meeting not being remotely quorate.  This will be addressed at a date to be set by the Committee, probably to be held in the proximity of a match.

8.  AOB

Much discussion over a review of the level of quoracy demanded by the Constitution.   Currently this stands at 1/2 of full paying members, plus one, which means 10 under the current arithmetic.

Four proposals tumbled out of the discussion:

A   No quoracy would be required, as long as due notice (in accordance with the Constitution) was given to the membership.

B   The quoracy level should be 1/2 plus 1 of full playing members (as currently), but all members attending a meeting should count towards the quorum.

C   The quoracy should be set at a static level, eg 8.  All members attending a meeting should count towards the quorum.

D   The quoracy level should be 1/2 plus 1 of full playing members (as currently), but proxy votes should count towards the quorum (these proxy votes could be either of full-paying or of all members).

Not being quorate we couldn't do anything more than just disagree with one another.   Voting will take place at a later meeting to be sorted by the Committee.   These four proposals are reproduced simply to stimulate your creative juices.

Rigid, untenable positions should be adopted by everyone in readiness for the next stage of negotiations.

The career averages were handed out to spontaneous outpouring of joy, gradually to be replaced by introspective mutterings as the full horror engulfed us.

The secret of a good batting average is obviously to play in a few easy matches against some ten year-olds and then fuck off to France for the rest of the decade.  If this option isn't open to you, give up on your batting, bowl a fuck of a lot of overs and concentrate on 9, 10, Jack.
