Red Bat CC AGM held on the 20/11/98 at the Rose & Crown
Present
M Gummer, M Welbrock, C Lewis, B Kennedy, A Lee, P OConnor, P Solomon, G Pott, D
Muir (secretary)
Apologies
J Anzani, P Jones, P Biggs, S Hewlett
Financial Matters
- MW gave a succinct account of the current position, the nub being
that we are +£164.47
- The rub was that a parsimonious phalanx were still owing for 1998
- It was decided that the status quo would stand ie subs would be
payable for 1999 at the current rate of £10
Committee
- There was considerable debate re the nature of captaincy and the
requirement for personal and collective responsibility
.
- As a result of the discussions the following elections occurred;
Captain
(without responsibility, other than on the pitch) Paul OConnor
Co-ordinator
( a new post to do all the fetching and carrying for the skip) Matt
Gummer
Assistant Co-ordinator
(to do anything the co-ordinator cannot be bothered to do) Andy Lee
(an unelected post)
Fixture Sec
Chris Lewis
Treasurer
Mike Welbrock
Hon Sec
Dave Muir
Fixtures
- This all got a bit mixed up with discussions on; tours, committee,
the nature of captaincy and the need for personal and collective responsibility, so excuse
my notes
- The upshot appeared to be that we would play;
3 bona fixtures
2 mini tours
1 grand tour
- There was no concensus over which 3 fixtures but the following
gained at least some support;
Downe
Sun Inn
Chadlington
AN Other in Cambridgeshire
- As always Fix Sec can only do what is humanely possible
Nets
- These to be adhoc as for the last few years but remember whites at
Lords and no bowling down the leg side Bruce
Tours
- Given our phenomenal success as tourists (at getting a full team
on the pitch just after kick off) a great surge of emotion engulfed the attendees
- Perhaps Red Bat needed to tour more often?
- There was no dissent to this and the following is therefore
mooted;
Mini tour to Suffolk probably 12/13 June fix PS accom PB
Mini tour to Oxfordshire probably July fix DM accom CL
Grand Tour to Matlock Aug Bank hol Fix PS accom JA
- More details to follow perhaps even in this envelope if I do not
get my finger out and get the minutes sent out soonest
Kit
- We need some; bats, Gloves(LH),short arsed pads
- DM to audit the bag and come up with a wish list
Debbies Party
- Its a bit late now but Debbie invited you all to a party
AOB
- Hon Sec got a bollocking for not sending previous minutes and for
only notifying the membership of the AGM via the internet and telephone (not all members)
sincere apologies
- Unspecified indolent bastards were given a bollocking for not
filling the score book in with different coloured pens
- A specific indolent bastard was given a bollocking for losing the
fixture bible although he was blaming his charming french wife
- Hon Sec to update the contact list (preferably before Xmas so that
CL could send his cards)
- PS was missing a score book. (Is there some sado who is hiding the
awful truth of lifetime averages from the rest of us, several possibilities spring to
mind).
- Thanks were given to last years skipper and any body else who did
anything.
Thankfully there was no mention of Player of the Season.
An alternative venue was suggested for future meetings. The Barley
Mow to be considered in Victoria ( dont have the turkey sandwiches ).
The meeting closed at 10.00pm
