4.  Treasured Report

GP lucidly and succinctly summarised the current situation by presenting the last Bankers Statement.  We are £180.35 in credit.  This was seen as a healthy surplus and there would be no need to increase subs.

After discussion of the principle of match fees (& a healthy dose of ash and sack clothes) a vote was taken to levy:

  • subscription - £10 (country £5)
  • match fee - £2 (including ball but not tea)

This was caryried (6f/2a/1ab).

5.  Whither Red Bat

A period of torrid self-analysis led to the conclusion that we generally benefited from some form of continuity of playing (the only dissenters being in denial).  A proposition to play 12 games was carried (7/0/1).

GP enthused on the repercussions of the Vags having folded; a questionnaire had winkled out a number who would be prepared to play for us, albeit with varying degrees of enthusiasm.  Most had stipulated that wild horses would not, however, drag them from their particular South East London idyll.  This was to be encouraged by trying to accommodate more suitable fixtures in their locale.

6.  Elections

Pitifully, anybody who did not object vociferously was duly elected:

  • Fixtures Sec - SD
  • Treasurer - CL
  • Hon Sec - DM

New members - Paul James (he of the flashing blade) was enthusiastically proposed by bowlers who had seen promising careers cruelly crushed at his hands.  Paul we welcome you into our merry band (7/0/2).

7.  Nets

It was decided to proceed with nets on an informal basis.

8.  Fixtures

After discussion on the suitability of various teams to entertain RBCC (and all their baggage) and with the Fix. Sec having the necessary incumbent discretion, it was decided to drop Ebrington (0/5/3)  and Cokenatch (try Histon) but to keep Libri.

9.  Tour

PJ had put his head above the parapet and suggested Shropshire, everybody thought this a marvellous idea.  PS honourably signalled his willingness to assist.

10.  Kit

The kit is sitting unchecked in DM's garage; the situation will not be allowed to continue and by the next meeting a full inventory will be available for comment.

AL requested a long handled bat.
